DONNA JOHNSON Obituary

Donna B. Johnson, 79, of Cary, IL and Egg Harbor, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at Door County Medical Center in Sturgeon Bay, WI, following a sudden illness. Donna was born June 9, 1943, in Chicago, IL, to the late Charles and Agnes (Kuna) Schwingl. Donna graduated from McHenry Community High School's Class of 1961. On September 12, 1964, she married her high school sweetheart, Gordon Johnson, and was blessed with three children, Melanie, Jill, and Brent. Prior to her retirement in 2005, Donna worked at the McHenry County Health Department in Woodstock, IL and Mid America Title Co. in Crystal Lake, IL. Donna lived her life with exuberance and cherished the time spent with family and friends, serving as their biggest supporter, confidant, and cheerleader. Donna loved cooking, gardening, crafting and rug hooking. In Door County her favorite spots included The Ridges Sanctuary, the Alpine Resort, and Peninsula Players productions. Donna will be missed by her husband of 58 years, Gordon; her three children, Melanie Keane of St. Charles, IL, Jill Johnson of Cary, IL, Brent (Cindy) Johnson of Bartlett, IL; six grandchildren, Madeline, Nolan and Clancy Keane, Cora Cook, and Caitlyn and Ella Johnson. She was also survived by her sister, Pamela (Patrick Mann) Schwingl of Durham, NC, and their children, Nick (Cara) Mann and Thea Mann, as well as Nick and Cara's children, Liam and Luke. A celebration of Donna's life will be held in Illinois in December - to be announced. Huehns Funeral Home, Inc. & Door County Crematory LLC in Sturgeon Bay, WI are assisting the Johnson family. Expressions of sympathy, memories, and photos of Donna may be shared with her family through her tribute page at www.huehnsfuneralhome.com.

I was so fortunate to know Donna because of my late husband, Don Kice's, high school friendship with Gordon. She soon became one of my favorite people and I looked forward to every opportunity to be with her. Donna was filled with joy and love for her family and friends. She was always happy and we always talked and laughed together. Her bright light is forever in my heart and mind. My deepest condolences to you. You were all the center of her universe and she loved you dearly.

I worked with Donna at the health dept until she retired. She was a joy to work with. Her efficiency and kind personality always made it fun to go to work in a fast paced office. Once while visiting Door county she invited me and my family to her log cabin for a delicious homemade lunch. Sorry for your loss. Becky Pender
