Doris R. Botimer

Doris R. Botimer, 91, passed away on October 22, 2025, in Glenview, IL.

Born on February 12, 1934, in Belvidere, IL, to Leland Dexter and Margaret Ferry, Dorie was the third of four children and was raised on the family farm. She attended Northern Illinois University and was conferred a bachelor's degree in home economics and a master's degree in biology.

While attending NIU, she met Allen, her husband of 55 years. A career educator, she taught home economics in several school districts, including Warren Township High School in Gurnee, IL and Hawthorn Junior High School in Vernon Hills, IL.

She was an active member of AAUW, PEO, and Hope Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Grayslake, IL. Dorie was an avid quilter, basket maker, and cook, who also enjoyed travel and bird watching. Her great love in life was the care of her family and friends. Her kindness was outstanding and her service to others is unforgettable.

She is survived by her sons, Greg Botimer, Ted (Monica) Botimer; and two grandsons, Alex and Nathan.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Allen; and by three siblings, Florence, Dexter and John.

A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 10, 2025, at Hope Presbyterian Church, 32475 N. Alleghany Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030.
