ELAINE J. McGLONE

Elaine J. McGlone of Elgin Elaine J. McGlone, 69, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009. She was born June 1, 1940, in Hammond, Ind., the daughter of Garrett and Trena Leep. Elaine was a child of God, wife, mother, grandma, sister, mentor, friend and artist. Elaine was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Elgin. She volunteered as a mentor and tutor. She was a juried artist and member of Art for All. Survivors include her husband, Gene McGlone of Elgin; six children, Jeffrey (Wendy) McGlone, Teri (Alejandro Hernandez) Joyce, Gregory (Peggy) McGlone, Lance (Sue) Wierenga, Pamela Zemla and Jodi (Bob) Hoffman; along with 14 grandchildren; three brothers, Rowland (Tobbie), Garry (Michele) and Robert (Grace) Leep; three sisters, Lori (Bill) McQueary, Ruth (Ken) Dawson and Pat Leep; along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Earl Leep. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 11:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Elgin, with Pastor Gregg Huguley officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be today, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St. (Route 31), Elgin, and on Thursday, at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials to World Vision, would be appreciated. To celebrate her homegoing, Elaine and family request that bright Easter colors be worn in her memory at the visitation and funeral.
