BATAVIA - Franco "Frank" Mondelli, 83. Beloved husband of Concetta "Connie" Mondelli (Barbieri) for 57 years; loving father of Tina Lambert (husband, John), John Mondelli (wife, Anastasia), and Roselynn Onofrio (husband, Claudio). Grandfather of Anthony Lambert, Jack Lambert, John Patrick Mondelli, Isabella Onofrio, Johnny Lambert, Nicholas Mondelli, and Mario Onofrio. Frank was the son of the late Giovanni Mondelli and the late Concetta Mondelli, the eldest brother of Michael Mondelli, the late Rosa Morrone, Bina Valerio, Phyllis Locassio, and Joseph Mondelli. Frank immigrated to the United States in 1958 at age 18. He arrived with only a 6th-grade education and his knowledge of the family trade, where he and his father worked as tailors. Upon arriving in Chicago, Frank and his father worked for tailor shops downtown making suits for the likes of the Wrigleys. Frank took the chance with business declining in the city, moved to the suburbs, and opened his tailor shop in Glen Ellyn. He offered custom tailoring, alterations, and ready-made suits for 24 years. He was well-known in the community and made a successful business through the 1990s. He finished his career working at Mark Shale in Oakbrook for 10 years and, later, continued to custom tailor at home for his longtime customers. Frank was a family man and was always thinking of them before himself. Before marrying Connie, he would give his paycheck to his parents until age 26. His priority was to maintain a beautiful home for his family, and through his success, he put all three of his children through college and advanced training. He worked happily in his business Monday through Saturday, getting up at 6 a.m. and doing alterations until 9 a.m. when his shop opened. Then, he would come home at 6 p.m. for dinner and back down in the basement until 10 p.m. working on suits or alterations that still needed to be done. He motivated all of us not by words but by example; he lived the American dream. A man of not many hobbies, Frank devoted his Sundays to his garden, hosting his parents for Sunday afternoon dinner, and his grandchildren's games and events as their biggest cheerleader. Visitation at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Road, Wheaton, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday March 31, 2023.
