Frank Gorham Obituary

Frank H. Gorham of St. Charles A funeral Mass for Frank H. Gorham, 65, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at St. Patrick Crane Road Church, 6N491 Crane Road, St. Charles, with Monsignor Joseph B. Linster celebrant. Private burial will be in Prairie Cemetery, St. Charles. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008 at the Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third St. (three blocks west of the Fox River, one block south of Route 64), St. Charles. Born June 16, 1942, in Morris, Ill., the son of Charles Henry and Edith (nee Hayes) Gorham Sr., he died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at home surrounded by his loving wife and family. Frank grew up in Seneca, Ill. He attended Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif. and graduated from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. At the time of his death, Frank was president and CEO of Robert H. Anderson and Associates, Inc., a consulting engineering firm in St. Charles. Prior to joining the firm, he served as director of public works for the City of St. Charles. He joined the firm in 1978 as a principal engineer and became president in 1985. During his 43 years as a civil engineer, he represented private land developers and municipal, county and state governments in the growth and expansion throughout the Fox Valley area. He was on the board of the Baker Memorial Community Center, a member of the American Public Works Association and the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers. Frank and Anne have been longtime members of St. Patrick's Church in St. Charles. The greatest joy in his life was his family, and he had a remarkable and special relationship with each of his grandchildren. Mr. Gorham is survived by his wife of 42 years, Anne; his children, Jane (Joshua) Ditelberg of River Forest, Mark (Melissa) Gorham of St. Charles and Melissa (John) O'Brien of Royal Oak, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Maxwell, William, Margaret, Daniel, Alexander, Claire, Patrick and Sean; two brothers, Charles (Cathy) Gorham of Plainfield, Ill. and George Gorham of New York, N.Y.; and two sisters, Martha Szymoniak of Milton, Fla. and Linda Gorham of Los Angeles. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by a brother, David Gorham; and a sister, Eda Gorham.
