FRED STROMSDORFER Obituary

Fred G. Stromsdorfer Fred G. Stromsdorfer, 74, passed away at his home on Saturday, April 30, 2011, following a courageous battle with cancer. Fred was born April 9, 1937 in Chicago, the son of George and Pauline (nee Bathelt) Stromsdorfer. He was raised and educated in Chicago and on May 2, 1959, was united in marriage to Rita B. Nowakowski. The couple made their home in the Aurora area and Fred worked for Illinois Bell/Ameritech until retiring in 1991. In August of 1999, the couple moved to Sun City, Huntley. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, the Woodchucks, Sun City Sportsman Club and had served on the board of the Newport Bay Condo Association. He enjoyed the outdoors; canoeing, kayaking and motorcycling. Fred is survived by his wife, Rita of Huntley; his children, Christopher Stromsdorfer of Shorewood, Deborah (Greg Bubp) Stromsdorfer of Rockford and Dawn Stromsdorfer of Naperville; his sisters, Elaine Teissler of Santa Ana, Calif. and Susan (Jim) Zacharski of Des Plaines; and many nieces and nephews. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials in Fred's name may be directed to the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois. The DeFiore-Jorgensen Funeral & Cremation Service, is in charge of the arrangements. For information, please call the funeral home, 847-515-8772.
