George S. Gunnufsen of Des Plaines Services for Mr. George S. Gunnufsen, 87, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the Swan Lake Chapel on the grounds of Ridgewood Cemetery, 9900 Milwaukee Ave., Des Plaines. Interment will be in Ridgewood Cemetery, Des Plaines. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the services Tuesday, at Swan Lake Chapel. Born Feb. 17, 1917, in Chicago, he died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, at Rosewood Manor in Delavan, Wis. Mr. Gunnufsen was the owner and milk vendor of Twin Oaks Dairy in Chicago. He was very proud that he served in the military during World War II. He was a member of the Des Plaines Masonic Lodge. George loved his family more than anything. He loved to fish, bowl, play cards with his friends, and above all he loved to read. He loved his cottage on Sunset Lake in Iron River, Mich. and was happiest when friends and family came to visit. George and his wife, Muriel had many friends and they always welcomed everyone into their home with open arms. He was a kind, gentle and generous man and the best father in the world. He will be missed terribly. He was the husband of the late Muriel (nee Haeuschen); father of Glenn G. (Jan) Gunnufsen of Burlington, Wis. and Carol M. (Randy) Rizzo of Union, Ill.; grandfather of Linda, John, Doug, Jenny, Joe, Kara, Nate and Josh; great-grandfather of Nicole, Ivy, Lacey, Macey, Lucia and Bella; brother of Henry (Dorothy) Gunnufsen of Florida, Suzanna (Ralph) Pittelkow of Florida, and the late Gunnar (Patricia) Gunnufsen of Chicago and Albertha (the late Lawrence) Duke; and uncle of many nieces and nephews. Memorials to the Alzheimer's Association appreciated. Arrangements were made by Ridgewood Funeral Chapel on the grounds of Ridgewood Cemetery. For information‚ (847)824-4145.
