George Urda

George Urda formerly of Des Plaines Visitation for George Urda, 93, of Rockford, will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 12 noon Wednesday, Dec. 31, at the Ridgewood Memorial Park Chapel, 9900 N. Milwaukee Ave., Des Plaines. Interment will follow in Ridgewood Memorial Park. Born July 22, 1915, in Macdonaldton, Pa., he died in Rockford. George was a World War II Army veteran, who participated in the Battle of the Guadalcanal and the Battle of Northern Solomons. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor, an NRA member, a member of the Chicago Carpenters Local 181 and a member of the Army 25th Infantry Division Association. He was the husband of the late Helen Urda; father of George P. (Wanda) Urda, Theodore J. (Mary) Urda, Thomas C. (Karrie) Urda and Mary C. (Chris) Hill; grandfather of six; great-grandfather of three; and brother of Mary (the late Joe) Litchko, Fred (Jean) Urda, Joseph (the late Mary) Urda, the late Evelyn Urda and the late David (Diane) Urda. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250.
