HAROLD KUMMET

1942 - 2022

ELGIN - Harold Kummet, 79, of Elgin, passed peacefully, surrounded by his family, on May 23, 2022, from complications of Lewy Body Dementia. He was born on May 29, 1942, in Elgin, the son of Lawrence and Frieda (Stern) Kummet. Harold graduated from Elgin High School in 1960, and worked as a bricklayer for over 35 years prior to retirement in 2004. He was an avid bowler, and participated in several area bowling leagues. Harold enjoyed muscle cars, and was the proud owner of a 1970 Chevy Nova, entering and winning numerous car awards at area shows. He was very involved with his children and grandchildren's activities, and rarely missed a baseball, bowling or golf event they participated in. Harold loved caring for his yard, with gardening and planting flowers. He went on fishing trips to Canada and enjoyed various destination cruises and road trips throughout the United States and Nova Scotia with his wife, Ruth. He will be greatly missed. He attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for many years. Survivors include his wife: Ruth (Reimer), whom he married on March 9, 1963; two sons: Brian (Cindy) of South Elgin and Blaine (Erin) of Lawrenceville, GA; 3 grandchildren: Jeremy and Alex Kummet of Phoenix, AZ and Sophia Hammond of Lawrenceville, GA; a brother: Roy (Violet) Kummet of Elgin; a sister-in-law: Diane (Charles) Vandeford of FL; along with many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022, from 4:00pm-8:00pm at the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Funeral service will be Saturday, at the funeral home, at 11:00am, with Rev.
