Helen A. Lorenz

Helen A. Lorenz formerly of Elgin Visitation for Helen A. Lorenz, 85, of Santa Cruz, Calif., will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee. Burial will follow in Dundee Township Cemetery in Dundee. Born in Dundee, Helen passed away Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, in Santa Cruz. Mrs. Lorenz moved to Santa Cruz three years ago and resided next door to her daughter and family. Prior to moving there, she was a long time resident of Elgin. She was employed with the Elgin National Watch Company, working in the assembly division. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Elgin. Mrs. Lorenz taught Sunday school there for 14 years and served as assistant superintendent of primary education there. A talented musician, she played violin, and was also a gifted artist in both drawing and painting. Among all her accomplishments, her family will forever remember her for her love and devotion as a wife and mother. She is survived by her two daughters, Janiece Ransone of Santa Cruz and Penny Scheid of Lombard. She also leaves seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers; and her loving husband of 53 years, Glenn Lorenz, who died in 1999. The family asks that remembrances be made to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church.
