Joan Wilander Obituary

Joan L. Wilander of Naperville since 1984 Funeral services for Joan L. Wilander (nee Davis), 71, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 815 S. Washington St., Naperville. Born Jan. 11, 1932, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at Edward Hospital, Naperville. Interment will be private. Mrs. Wilander grew up in Brooklyn and was a graduate of Fort Hamilton High School. She married her husband, Robert, June 18, 1955. They were residents of Boonton Township, N.J., before coming to Naperville in 1984. Mrs. Wilander was a member of Cress Creek Country Club in Naperville and Pelican Nest Golf Club in Bonita Springs, Fla. She enjoyed playing golf, golden retrievers and most of all, her grandchildren. Joan is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob" Wilander of Naperville; daughters, Susan (Michael) McDermott of Los Angeles, Calif., Robin (Andrew) Wodzisz of Geneva and Cindy (Kevin) Ebel of Normal; son, Steven (JoAnn) Wilander of Aurora; grandchildren, Danny, Steve, Meghan, Shannon, Chris, Jamie, Matthew, Jack and Ben; stepgrandchildren, Angie (John) Wojcik of Batavia and Toni Ruble of Aurora; and her stepgreat-grandchildren, Sophia and Elizabeth. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lillian Davis. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Scleroderma Foundation, Chicago Chapter, 330 S. Wells St., Chicago, IL 60606.
