John Robert Fitzsimmons Sr.

John Robert Fitzsimmons Sr. formerly of Gurnee and Mundelein Visitation for John Robert Fitzsimmons Sr., 83, of Park City, Ill. for the past 15 years, will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, at K.K. Hamsher Funeral Home, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Road (The Chapel on the Lake, one block west of Route 12,½ block north of Grand Ave.), Fox Lake. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery in Libertyville. Born June 18, 1922, in St. Louis, the son of Ernest J. and Ethel (nee Mitchell) Fitzsimmons, he died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, in Ingleside, Ill. Mr. Fitzsimmons, an Army veteran of World War II, married Jean Moore in 1945, in New York. The couple had celebrated 42 years of marriage at the time of her death in 1987. He was employed as a public insurance adjuster for J. Fitzsimmons, Inc. Fire Loss Consultants. He was a member of the Gurnee American Legion, a lifetime member of the VFW, and he enjoyed bowling, horseracing and the Chicago Cubs. Survivors include his children, John R. (Debra) Fitzsimmons Jr. of Mundelein, James A. (Kristine) Fitzsimmons of Ingleside and Jane (Dan) Sanchez of Algonquin; his grandchildren, John R. Fitzsimmons III of Carbondale, Jill Fitzsimmons of Massachusetts, and Danny, Jenny, Tommy and Nicole Sanchez, all of Algonquin; sister, Dorothy (the late Harold) Beezley of St. James, Mo., sister-in-law, Doris Fitzsimmons of Missouri; nephew, Michael (Kathleen) Beezley of Missouri.; nieces, Joyce Fitzsimmons of Missouri and Frances Beezley of St. Louis; and great-nephew, Matthew Beezley and great-niece, Erin Beezley, both of Missouri. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his brothers, Marion and James A. Fitzsimmons; and his nephew, William Beezley. For information, 847-587-2100.
