John McHone Obituary
John P. McHone, age 90, of Elgin, passed away on September 11, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born February 27, 1935, in Elmhurst, IL.
John was the beloved husband of the late Eileen (nee Wydra). He was the devoted father of Kevin (Linda), Stephanie (Sean) Anderson, Sean (Nicky), and Kimberly (Michael) Strachn. He was a cherished grandfather of Marisa (Chris), Trevor (Alisa), Travis (Hanna), Marian, Natalie, Charlotte, Lauren, Ashley, Alex, and Nathan; and a proud great-grandfather of Skylar and Keenan.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard, serving his country with honor and integrity. John then spent much of his career working at the Chicago Board of Trade and the CME Group. He and Eileen raised their family in Mt. Prospect before settling in Elgin. He had a lifelong interest in model trains and took great joy in sharing time with his children, grandchildren, and most recently, his great-grandchildren.
His kindness, humor, and dedication to family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation Sunday, 2:00 – 7:00 PM at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Rd. at Northwest Hwy., Mt. Prospect.
Funeral service Monday, 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to JourneyCare Hospice.
