John R. Mursu

John R. Mursu of Hampshire A Mass of Christian Burial for John R. Mursu, 60, formerly of Elk Grove Village, will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. today, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 297 E. Jefferson St., Hampshire. Father Joseph P. Nicoloci will officiate. Burial will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery. Born June 24, 1944, in Minneapolis, the son of John and Lola (nee Smith) Mursu, he passed away Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. Mr. Mursu was a 1967 graduate of Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. He married Barbara A. Sommerfelt in Milwaukee on Aug. 22, 1970, and they resided in Wauwatosa, Wis., for 11 years before moving to Elk Grove Village. They moved to Hampshire in 2002 and were members of the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Mr. Mursu was a longtime claims manager for the Harco National Insurance Company. Surviving are his wife, Barbara; daughters, Lisa M. Mursu of Bartlett and Jennifer L. Mursu and Karla R. Mursu, both of South Elgin; a sister, Sandra (Ralph) Puffpaff of Fort Atkinson, Wis.; and his mother-in-law, Audrey Barry of Hampshire. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be directed to American Cancer Society. Arrangements were made by Fredrick Funeral Home‚ Hampshire, (847)683-2711.
