John Udelhofen Obituary

Dr. John H. "Jack" Udelhofen a 35-year resident of Wheaton Services for Dr. John H. "Jack" Udelhofen, 74, will begin at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Road (one block east of Naperville Road), Wheaton, proceeding to St. Daniel the Prophet Church, Wheaton, for a Mass at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral home. Born Nov. 28, 1931, in Chicago, he passed away Friday, Feb. 17, 2006. Jack was raised in the Roseland neighborhood on the far south side of Chicago. He graduated from St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer, Ind. in 1953, and went on to earn a doctorate in organic chemistry from Iowa State University in Ames in 1958. He was employed as a project research manager for the Amoco Research Center in Naperville until retiring in 1992. He was a DuPage County Republican precinct committeeman, a member of the Conservation Foundation of DuPage County, a lector at St. Daniel the Prophet and a lifelong avid White Sox fan. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary; children, Susan (Tim) Ross, Mark (Peggy), Mary Carol (Paul) MacDonald, John (Angie) and Janet (Mark) Long; his 10 grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Michael, Sarah, Matt, Josh and Abby Udelhofen, Daniel and Vince MacDonald, and Luke, Julia and Olivia Long; sister, Jean (the late Al) Marrero; and many nieces and nephews.
