Julie Perry Obituary

Dr. Julie A. Perry

Dr. Julie A. Perry passed away peacefully October 11, 2025, in Barrington, Illinois. She was born June 1, 1938, in Zion, Illinois, to Robert Guy and Bertha Rhoda Corder. Julie's curiosity led to her passion for reading, discovering new cultures while traveling extensively and her career choice in the educational field. She loved her family fiercely as she engaged with each one and their lives.

Julie is survived by her husband of 65 years, Dr. William N. Perry; children, William Jr. (Susan) Perry of Salisbury MD, Laura (Steve) Glanz of Marion, IA, and Joe Perry (Jill Kuhn) of Arlington Heights; grandchildren, Gregory (Emily) Perry, David (Michelle) Perry, Connor (Paige) Perry, Danielle (Ryan) Griebel, Katherine (Sean) Price, Drew Perry, Nicole Glanz, Zachary Glanz, and Emma Perry; great-grandchildren, William Perry, Andrew Perry, and Maeve Griebel; older sister, Betty Ruesch; sister-in-law, Betty Pell; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers and three sisters.

Julie was a graduate of Zion Benton Township High School. She was the first one in her family to graduate from college when she received her undergraduate degree from Northern Illinois University. Julie continued this lifelong learning path as she earned several advanced degrees from Western Illinois University and Indiana University- Bloomington.

Julie began her distinguished career as an elementary school teacher in Navoo/Colusa, Illinois. When she and her husband moved to the Chicago suburbs, she led the reading lab at Plum Grove Junior High and then assumed a role where she assisted teachers with teaching reading in northwest suburban District 59 and taught college students at National Louis University. When she left the school system, Julie still spent many years helping teachers to teach as an educational consultant for Macmillan McGraw Hill.

In her spare time, in addition to reading hundreds of books, Julie rang bells at both her churches, taught her boating club navigation classes, participated in the church movie group and led a girl scout troop.

The memorial service is Monday, October 27th, at 10:00 am at the Barrington United Methodist church, 98 IL-62, Barrington, IL 60010. Lunch will be served following the service in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the church bell choir fund at Barrington United Methodist church; or The Buddy Foundation in Arlington Heights, where Julie and Bill adopted their beloved cat, Sylvester.
