Kenneth E. Burnett of Mundelein Funeral services for Kenneth E. Burnett, 92, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (Route 176), Libertyville. Born Aug. 10, 1910, in Lake Villa, he passed away Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at Libertyville Manor. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery following the services. A former 64-year resident of Libertyville, Mr. Burnett had lived in Mundelein since 1987. He and his wife had also wintered in Marco Island, Fla., since 1985. Ken was a 1928 graduate of Libertyville Township High School and a 1933 graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago. A funeral director, he owned Burnett Funeral Home in Libertyville from 1935 to 1978 and Burnett & Kristan Funeral Home in Mundelein from 1954 to 1969. He was a member of Hope Church of Lake County and a former member, trustee and elder of First Presbyterian Church in Libertyville. He was also a past president of the Libertyville Lions Club, a former member of the Libertyville Masonic Lodge, a past president of the Libertyville Chamber of Commerce, a member of the board of directors for the Lakeside Cemetery Association and a member of the Northeastern Illinois, Illinois and National Funeral Directors associations. Surviving are his wife, Cele Whitmore Burnett; sons Stephen (Beverly) Burnett of Frederick, Md., and Charles (Donna) Burnett of Virginia Beach, Va.; grandchildren, Mark (April) Burnett of Fairfax, Va., Corey (Jennifer) Burnett of Frederick, Heidi (Doug) Arnn of Cave Creek, Ariz., Rob (Amy) Burnett of Lexington, Ky., and Eric Burnett of Frederick; and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Cele's children, Lola (Richard) Karcher of Mundelein, Sue (Bert) Elliott of Toledo, Ohio, and H. William (Jan) Whitmore of Cincinnati, Ohio; 10 stepgrandchildren; and 14 great-stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred, in 1973; second wife, Alma, in 1986; son Kenneth R. Burnett in 1992; parents, Norman and Nellie Burnett; and brothers, Edward and Vange Burnett. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
