Kenneth Holst Obituary

Kenneth E. Holst Sr. of Grayslake for 35 years Funeral services for Kenneth E. Holst Sr., 73, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, Ltd., 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake. Fr. Beaven of St. Gilbert Catholic Church, Grayslake, will officiate. Born May 20, 1929, in Prairie View, the son of the late Albert John Holst and Viola Foots, he passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2002, at Provena St. Therese Medical Center in Waukegan. Interment will be in Avon Centre Cemetery, Grayslake. Formerly of Union Grove, Wis., Mr. Holst was retired from Cooper Stair Company in Mundelein, where he had been employed as a truck driver. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local #301. He leaves his daughter, Bernadette (Mike) Perry of Gulf Port, Miss.; sons, Ken Holst Jr. of Crystal Lake, Chris (Christine) Holst of Merrillville, Ind., Kevin (Andrea) Holst of Elgin, Joe (Linda) Holst of Mundelein, Richard Holst of Grayslake and Andrew Holst of Chicago; and 10 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Pete, Ray, Ed, Jim, Albert Jr., John, Bill and Harold Holst; sister, Bernice Rankin; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marcelline L. Holst (nee Cordts), in 1982; and brother Don Holst in 1979. Friends of the family may visit from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral chapel.
