MAE BEHRENDT Obituary

Mae Arlene Behrendt Mae Arlene (nee Bowles) Behrendt, 78, a former resident of Mundelein for 27 years, passed away peacefully at her home in Alva, Florida on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born Aug. 16, 1934, the daughter of the late Arthur and Lydia Bowles. She married the love of her life, Charles 'Chuck' Behrendt Sr. and settled in Mundelein. They had four children, Laurie, Chuck Jr., Skip and Tony. They retired to Alva, Fla. in 1985. She enjoyed traveling, arts and crafts, painting, sewing, and spending summers with her family in Illinois. She will be remembered for her love of family and sense of humor and missed by her companions Carl Niebour and, pet, Toby. She is survived by her children, Laurie (nee Behrendt) Porter of Lehigh Acres, Fla., Chuck Behrendt Jr. of Lindenhurst, Arthur 'Skip' and Laurie Behrendt of Antioch; grandchildren Brittany, Ashley, Corrinne, Chase, Cali, and Cayla. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Lydia; husband, Chuck Sr.; son, Tony; and son-in-law, Keith Porter. In lieu of flowers, donations to American Cancer Society or Hope Hospice of Southwest Florida are appreciated.
