MANFRED "FRED" KLEMM

1930 - 2016

CRYSTAL LAKE - Manfred "Fred" Klemm passed away at his home in Crystal Lake on May 17, 2016 at the age of 86. He is predeceased by his wife, Ingrid Klemm. He is lovingly remembered by his dear partner, Heide Borchert, his son, Bernt Klemm, his daughter, Linda (Tim) Grady, and his three adoring grandchildren, Jessica, Jason, and Evan Grady, who called him "Opa." Manfred was born in Spandau, Germany (a suburb of Berlin) on April 17, 1930. At the age of 21, he bravely immigrated to the United States settling in Chicago, Illinois. Although America became his adopted home, Germany remained forever in his heart. He was a successful entrepreneur who in 1970 co-founded Delta Tool Company, an injection mold machine shop located in the northern suburbs of Chicago. Manfred was an avid traveler. He and Heidi took many wonderful trips together in their golden years. In his free time, Manfred enjoyed golfing with friends, fishing with his son, and downhill skiing with his family. His most recent ski vacation was to Keystone, Colorado at age 84. Most importantly, he cherished spending time with his beloved family and close friends. A memorial service celebrating Manfred's vibrant life will be held at 4:00pm on May 26, 2016 at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road, Lake Zurich, Illinois.
