Theodore A. Heitman

Theodore A. Heitman, 92, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025, in Lake Forest, IL. He was born January 6,1933, in Chicago, IL, and had been a resident of Libertyville for over 50 years, living in Green Oaks Senior Living since 2017.

Ted was a graduate of Lane Tech High School and received his bachelor’s degree from IL Institute of Technology & IL Institute of Design in Chicago. He later received his MBA from Lake Forest College. He was a former engineer at the Frank G. Hough Co in Libertyville and was a man of great Christian faith, devoted to Faith Lutheran Church in Lake Forest, IL, where he served on various committees.

Ted will be remembered as adventurous, getting his motorcycle and pilot’s licenses, learning to scuba dive and traveling around the world with his late wife Lynn. He was also an avid hunter. He was very project oriented and kept busy in his workshop, gardening and researching genealogy. Most of all, Ted loved his family, always making time to spend with them and creating special memories.

Surviving are his 4 children, Sara (Charles) Cockey, Tammy Wochinski, Rebecca Pitt and Matthew (Diane) Heitman; and by 9 grandchildren; and 3 great -grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marta "Lynn" Hietman; by his daughter, Lisa Swisherl and by his sons-in-law, Jeff Wochinski, Lon Vellutini and Rick Mazzetta.

A visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by a time of service at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 24, 2025 at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176, one block west of Milwaukee Ave.) in Libertyville. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery.
