Marianne Mueller Obituary
Marianne Mueller, of Huntley, formerly of Des Plaines and Cape Coral, FL, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, at JourneyCare Hospice.
Born to Joseph and Bertha (Wiseler) Veselits, Marianne was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her husbands, Thomas Sobeski (1979) and Karl Mueller (2009); and her brothers, Charles and Robert Veselits.
Marianne was a beloved figure in her community. She owned and operated the Candle Nook store at Randhurst Mall for many years, a place that many remember for its warm atmosphere and her friendly, welcoming spirit. She later worked for the City of Des Plaines Police Department and the City of Cape Coral, where her dedication and hard work earned her the respect and admiration of all who worked with her.
A woman of many passions, Marianne loved the beach and had a deep love for travel, always seeking out new adventures and experiences. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her kindness, generosity, and joyful presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her sons, David Sobeski, Scott (Aggie) Sobeski, and Glen Sobeski; her grandchildren, Caroline Sobeski, Tom (Karol) Sobeski, Hannah (Alex) Oppedahl, and Joshua Sobeski; and her great-grandchildren, Kenadee and Blake. Marianne is also survived by her brother- and sister-in-law, Jim and Peg, and Kathy and Denny.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorials be directed to the American Heart Association.
