Marilyn June Kellenberger
Marilyn June (Graf) Kellenberger 96 of Elgin, IL slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus on May 23, 2025. She was born in Dekalb, IL and left at a train station as an infant. She was taken to Sherman Hospital where she was known as the Penny Baby until she was adopted by Charles and Adeline Graf. Marilyn was a graduate of Elgin High School class of 1946. She married the love of her life, Gerald Kellenberger, in 1948. They surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ and were both baptized in 1949. She was a life-long member of the Apostolic Christian Church. She is survived by her eight children, all who reside in the Elgin area: Karen McMullin, Chuck (Debbie) Kellenberger, Glenn Kellenberger, Connie (Tom) Schambach, Ken (Vicki) Kellenbeger, Tim (Marcia) Kellenberger, Greg (Debbie) Kellenberger, Jeff (Julie) Kellenberger. She is also survived by 38 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Gerald who died in 1978. She was also preceded in death by Gene McMullin (son-in-law), Lori Kellenberger (daughter-in-law), and Jennifer Schambach (granddaughter). She married her second husband Elvis Kellenberger in 1994. They had 26 years together before his passing in 2020.
Marilyn was a prayer warrior. Her strong faith carried her through the deaths of her husbands and challenges of raising her children after Jerry’s death. Second to her faith, her family was paramount. She loved and thrived in the details of the lives of her children and their families. Each addition to the family, whether by birth or marriage, was welcomed with love. Marilyn had a servant heart and was a faithful friend to many.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 10:00 am at the Apostolic Christian Church, Elgin, 2740 West Highland Avenue, Elgin. Burial will follow at Bluff City Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday May 27, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Center and on May 28, 2025, from 9:00 am until services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Highland Oaks. Laird Funeral Home of Elgin will be in charge of arrangements. For information call 847-741-8800 or
