MARILYN J. POGODA

Marilyn J. Pogoda of Elgin Marilyn J. Pogoda, 84, went home to her Lord on Friday, March 9, 2012, with her family by her side after a long illness. She was born May 21, 1927, in Elgin, the daughter of George and Hilda Unruh Holcomb. She was a graduate of Plato Center High School in 1944. Marilyn married Joseph F. Pogoda on June 28, 1947 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Elgin. Marilyn and Joseph raised their three daughters in Burlington, where they had resided for many years. She was employed by Biggers Chevrolet for over 30 years. She enjoyed her church and spending time with her family. She was the beloved wife of 64 years to Joseph; loving mother of Connie (Richard) Bartholomew, Linda Tobin and Donna Haen; her grandchildren, Nathan and Stephen Bartholomew, Courtney Haen and Morgan Tobin; her four great-grandchildren, Dylan, Allison, Emily and Makiya; and her brother, Clayton Holcomb. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Ralph and Leonard Holcomb. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1111 Van St., Elgin, where visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services. The Rev. Martin Balzer will officiate. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
