I have known Marilyn since I was a small child, and I always remember her welcoming me into her office at Wheeling and letting me look around. As an adult, she was a reliable friend to my family and was always willing to help out, whether it involved a ride to the airport, picking up a prescription, taping a favorite television show, or simply meeting for a cup of coffee.
She could be counted on for the latest recommendations in books and movies-and she happily lent out her copies.
I was happy to be able to know Marilyn outside of the school context, as I discovered that we had many interests in common, from NPR shows to books about American history.
She will be greatly missed!

In such a sad time as this, there truly just does not seem to be any words appropriate. Marilyn was a quiet, yet witty and deeply caring individual whom I had the privilege of getting to know through both the Peso family and working at Wheeling High School. From coffee at Starbucks to her new Lexus and Apple computer, I heard about her life and family often, and I know how very much she was loved. I will always remember what a dear friend of the Pesos she was and how she even left school early once to take me to the train station when we worked together. She fixed our watches and she made me jewelry. She will be deeply missed.

Marilyn changed my life when she hired me to work at WHS. I have developed and grown as a teacher, and I owe it to her for taking a chance on me, and seeing the potential. I will always admire her dedication and commitment to our students, and I hope her family can find peace knowing just how special she was. My daughter and I will remember her love for beagles and jewelery. Although I am sadden by her sudden departure, every time I think of her, I end up with a smile on my face due to all the wonderful memories of her. Rest in peace, pain free and watch over us.

I worked with Marilyn as her division assistant for the two years before she retired. I would meet her for lunch occasionally during post-retirement, and she and I would share stories and updates of our families. Marilyn had so much love in her heart for her family and her work family. I remember her favorite time of year at Wheeling H.S. was Christmas when she would shop with Ms. Chico for gifts for our underprivileged students. She loved picking out "just the right" clothes and toys for them. She will be missed. My prayers go out to you and your family. God bless.

Marilyn was my Division Head at WHS for fourteen years. She was so good to me and to the Ell program. We shared many laughs together and those memories I will always cherish. The Lord will take good care of her.

My sincerest sympathies on the loss of your sister, aunt, sister-in-law and great aunt. Ms. Relles was my former teacher at Mt. Assisi Academy in Lemont many years ago. We thought she was the coolest teacher ever! She brought lessons to life and intrigued our minds with practical application. I especially loved her anthropology course, which may have been the reason I went into the construction industry right out of school. Blessed with a great sense of humor, a sharp mind and a genuine interest in her students, she was an educator I have thought about very fondly over the past thirty-five plus years. I will never forget her and imagine those lives she equally touched are also forever changed.

Dear Rose, I am deeply saddened by Marilyn's passing. We were colleagues at Wheeling High School. I always admired her deep commitment to those she supervised and to her students. She cared deeply about her work with them and was a loyal and hard working employee. May she rest in peace. Sincerely, Elizabeth Ennis, retired superintendent High School District 214. What a wonderful woman! Not only was she my teacher and division head at WHS, but she was also a friend and customer at our farmstand. She pushed me to become involved in politics too.
I have so many great memories and I'm so lucky to have known her. She touched many lives at WHS. She will be missed. Rest In Peace Ms. R.
