MARK DICE Obituary

WOODSTOCK - Mark James Dice, 56, died March 5, 2016 from a sudden cardiac arrest in Woodstock, IL. He was born in Waukegan, IL, on July 3, 1959, to Bernice and Fleming Dice. He is survived by his two older brothers Richard (Diane) Dice Morris, IL, William (Ann) Dice, Hendersonville, NC. He is survived by wife from his first marriage Susan Kiel Dice, married Feb. 15, 1986, with whom he had his two cherished daughters Samantha Dice and Mckenzie Dice. He is survived by his wife and best friend from his second marriage, Heather Brown Dice married July 10, 2010, he adored his three stepsons Jonathan Cunningham, Steven Cunningham, William Cunningham. He is survived by his Aunt Gerri and Uncle Dave Markel, St. Charles, IL and his Uncle Ralph and Aunt Delores Benstein, Florida as well as many cousins. He was a graduate of St. Charles High school class of 1977.He graduated from Elgin Community College with an associate's degree. He also attended Northern Illinois University. Mark loved his work as a graphic artist. Mark will be fondly remembered for his huge laughter, large heart and sweet kindness. He enjoyed his music, his dogs, and cars/motorcycles. He loved being a father, he spoke fondly of the silly games he played with his sweet daughters and how he had his toenails painted many times. He was a wonderful fun loving stepfather. He was an amazing storyteller. Mark started in the newspaper advertising business with The Northwest Herald, then he worked at the Chicago Tribune, but most of his career, 20+ years with The Daily Herald where he made many lifelong friends. Mark was in many theater productions in high school and college and with the Woodstock Musical Theatre Company and TownSquare Players. Mark was happiest being on stage or behind the stage in many community theater productions with his family. He was preceded in death by his father Fleming Dice and his mother Bernice Dice. A visitation will be held from 2pm - 4pm Saturday March 12th with a service to follow directly at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 217 East Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere, IL. A private burial service will be held at St. Charles Township Cemetery, St. Charles, IL.
