MARK W. WHITAKER

1954 - 2013

Mark W. Whitaker, 59, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and daughters on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013. He was born July 5, 1954 in Columbus, Ohio and had been a Mundelein resident since 1991. He was a graduate of Carthage Community High School, received his degree in music education from Illinois Wesleyan University and his masters degree from Southern Methodist University. Mark attended the United Methodist Church in Libertyville and was a mentor at work, serving with integrity for 26 years at Medline Industries in Mundelein. He enjoyed playing the piano and fishing and boating on the Wisconsin River. Surviving are his wife Pam (Logan) Whitaker, whom he met at 16 years old and recently had their 37th wedding anniversary; Daughters, Sarah (Kyle) Solomon of Machesney Park and Molly Whitaker of Mundelein; his parents, James and Lois Whitaker of Taylorville, IL, in-laws, Jerry and Mary Logan of Carthage, IL; sister, Anne (David) McMullen and brother, Broderick Whitaker. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15 at the Burnett-Dane Funeral Home Ltd., 120 W. Park Ave. (Route 176, one block west of Milwaukee Ave.), Libertyville. Services will be held at 11 a.m Saturday, Nov. 16 at the United Methodist Church, 429 Brainerd Ave. Libertyville. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mark Whitaker can be made to the Illinois Wesleyan University Parent Fund or Illinois Wesleyan University School of Music.
