MARY GENSTER SCHERER Obituary

Mary Beth Genster Scherer of Mount Prospect Mary Beth Genster Scherer, 48, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Christmas day 2011, surrounded by her family. She was born Aug. 24, 1963, in Evanston, Ill., to Robert and Jean (nee Hastings) Genster. Mary Beth graduated from Schaumburg High School in 1981 and attended Harper College, where she studied fashion merchandising. She was a valued retail manager for several years. Then in 1988 she married the love of her life, Ronald C. Scherer. Son, Tyler and daughter, Annie eventually completed the family. Mary Beth enjoyed most of all being a stay-at-home mother and supporting her children in their activities. Mary Beth will be remembered as a beautiful, fun and upbeat soul who was a loving, generous and loyal friend. She loved Jesus, her family, her church, her friends and the Chicago Bears. She always picked them to win regardless of the odds. In addition to her beloved husband and adored children and her parents, Mary Beth is survived by her sister, Patti Genster; brother, Rob Genster; stepmother, Marlene Genster; sisters-in-law, Debbie Lopez and Lisa Genster; nieces, Makaya, Sierra and Haley Genster; and nephews, Ian Genster and Michael Lopez. She is also survived by an aunt, several cousins, her in-laws and many many friends. A Celebration of Mary Beth's life will be held at Orchard Evangelical Free Church, 1330 N. Douglas Ave., Arlington Heights, IL 60004, on Saturday, Jan. 7, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scherer family.
