MATTHEW TIMMS Obituary

Matthew Sean Timms Matthew Sean Timms, of Ogden, Utah, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, after a valiant battle with cancer, surrounded by his family. He was born April 26, 1973, in Elgin, Ill., to Bruce and Beverly Stock Timms. Matt was raised in Streamwood, Ill., where he lived until 1984, and then moved to Elgin. He attended Triton Community College and Southern Illinois University, earning his first associates degree in graphic arts. He then continued his education in Ogden at Weber State University, earning another associates degree in electrical engineering. He was also a licensed journeyman electrician and was currently an associate engineer with Fresenius Medical in Ogden. Matt married Amy LaRocco, Aug. 5, 2006, in a beautiful outdoor ceremony in Eden, Utah, surrounded by the mountains, family and friends. He was a true lover of the outdoors, loved hiking, biking, snowboarding, snowshoeing and at times, just laying and relaxing on "his mountain" with his favorite book, his little girls, and his dog Shawnee. He loved life and took joy in simple pleasures. He was thoughtful, loving, and considerate, had a strict code of ethics and just wanted to be a good person. He was an amazing father, loving son, and the most loving and caring husband who always made sure his family was taken care of. He is survived by his wife Amy; daughters, Sidney (7) and Isabella (3); parents, Beverly (Peter) Breskovich and Bruce (Kathy) Timms; brothers, Brian (Maria) and Ben; sisters, Jill (Greg) Martin, Christine Appleberg; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edwin and Claire Stock, and Fredrick and Adeline Timms; his aunt, Carol Steffan Kroc; uncles, Bob Timms and Bob Hortenbach; and cousin, Kelly Steffan. Memorials will be held in Ogden and in Chicago. Details will be available on Matt's Carepage as plans progress. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted at GoldenWest Credit Union for his family under the name of Matthew Timms. Checks can be made to GoldenWest Credit (memo to Matthew Timms), and sent to GoldenWest Credit Union, 805 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT 84404.

Went to high school with Matt, lived down the street from him in Elgin. We were friends in school but not the best. All I can say is that Matt Timms was one of the best human beings to walk this planet, This is upsetting news for me as I hoped to someday meet up with him again. My heart goes out to everyone Matt has touched over the years.

My eyes well with tears and my body quakes from a deep pain in heart as I write these words in rememberance of my dear friend. Matt was my best friend in elementry school. He was a great breakdancer, rollerskater, and the kid that took the cheese off of pizza. We were all impressed when he once did some breakdancing for my grandmother and family in my kitchen. For several years we were just simply inseperable. (24/7) Beverly, thanks for all the sleepovers. I know you used to sleep with earplugs. I missed Matt greatly when I moved away to Cleveland and spoke of him often to my new friends. Regretfully, I last saw and spoke to Matt 20 years ago and am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. I will always remember Matt as my best childhood friend and am glad to hear that he was so deeply loved by so many others. I am moved in hearing the heartfelt comments made by others and my heart goes out to his family for their loss. To Beverly, Peter, Bruce, Brian and Ben; my memories of you and Matt remain crystal clear and my heart breaks for your loss of your youngest son and brother. To Amy and children I am glad to hear that Matt was given the chance to be a loving husband and father and am truly sorry for your loss. I wish that Matt and I had made a better effort to keep in touch as it seems that we had grown up to have so much in common. I too am an Electrical Engineer and love all things outdoors. I am confident that given the oportunity we would have picked up right where we left off. I shall consider myself lucky to have known Matt and will always cherish the memories of my dear friend. Matt will be missed greatly.
My utmost sincerity and deepest sympatheis,

I met Matt only one time at my daughter Anna and son-in-law Jeff's wedding in June. I had heard alot about him from Jeff, but when I saw him, I saw the most beautifull smile ever and felt as if I were looking at an "angel" I will continue to keep his family, especially his daughters in my prayers. I feel very lucky to have met him, sending my sincere heartfelt sympathy.
