MICHAEL WALSH Obituary

Michael A. Walsh of Mundelein Visitation for Michael A. Walsh, 89, is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the Kristan Funeral Home P.C., 219 W. Maple Ave. (two blocks west of Route 45 on Route 176), Mundelein. Born Jan. 25, 1921, in Chicago, he died Sunday, June 20, 2010, at the Winchester House in Libertyville. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Marine Corps from 1942 - 1945 as a corporal in the Pacific Theatre. In 2009 his nephew, Marine Brig. Gen. Robert S. Walsh, while serving in Iraq, promoted his uncle, Michael A. Walsh, to a three-striped sergeant. He was very proud of his nephew and had a deep admiration for the Marine Corps. Mike was also a former Mundelein Little League coach. Most of all, he adored his wife and family, they meant everything to him. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruthmari (nee Jayko); children, Karen Emilia Walsh and Kevin Andrew (Janine) Walsh; his brother, Jack Walsh; and grandchildren, Troy and Kaleigh Walsh. He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Linnane.
