PAUL MAIER Obituary

Paul A. Maier, age 77, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2015. Beloved husband of Barbara (nee Engel) for 56 wonderful years. Cherished father of Karen (Mark) Bolotin, Paul (Lubna) Maier, and Sandra (Dewey) Bredeson. Proud grandfather of Brandon, Daniel, Nicholas and Jake. Fond cousin and uncle of many. He was preceded in death by his father Henry, mother Angela, and brother Donald. A 40+ year resident of Mt. Prospect, Paul was born and raised in Chicago, graduating from Amundsen High School and Loyola University. Paul was a diehard Chicago sports fan, lover of golf, avid reader and had an entrepreneurial spirit. Always the first to help others he volunteered at the Des Plaines Food Pantry after his retirement. "A Celebration of Life" will be held at a later date.

I had the privilege of knowing Paul as he was my husband's cousin. I have many great memories of him especially singing carols at our annual Christmas Eve celebration.

I remember Paul from our days at NBF Life when he was my boss. He was always upbeat and positive even when things didn't call for a great deal of optimism. I enjoyed our friendship greatly and recall a time or two when we barely outlasted the martinis in front of us. After those 2-3yrs at NBF, we drifted apart perhaps having lunch a time or two; but I've always regarded him as the BEST BOSS I ever had! My deep condolences go out to his family and friends. Paul was a very good guy! - PEACE
