Peter Fack Obituary

Peter Karl Fack Funeral services for Peter Karl Fack will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 100 S. School St., Mount Prospect. Born July 31, 1918, in Neustadt, Germany, he died Friday, March 26, 2004, in Arlington Heights. Interment will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Mount Prospect. Peter moved with his parents from Germany to Lithuania, where he spent his childhood. He then moved to Bad Segeberg, Germany, where he lived until joining the German Wehrmacht during World War II. He served in the infantry, but was captured by the Allies near the end of the war. He was transported to America where he was detained as a POW until the war's end. After returning to Europe, Peter married Erna Goerke in 1949 and lived in Bad Segeberg, where he worked in hardware sales. In 1953, with two young children in tow, Peter and Erna immigrated to America. They lived in Marshall, Wis. and then moved to the Chicagoland area where Peter worked for Bell & Gossett, Marshal Fields and Carson Pirie Scott, from which he retired in 1986. Peter is survived by his children, Lisa (Brice) Graves of Atlanta, Holger (Linda) Fack of Mount Prospect, Michael (JoLinn) Fack of Algonquin, Ron (Joan) Fack of Mount Prospect and Peter (Pam) Fack of Santa Barbara, Calif.; his grandchildren, Steve Klebe, Karin Jones, Alex (Tava) Fulford, Scott Fack (Noel Turner), Brian (Darcie) Fack, Jeremy Fack, Christopher, Sarah and Matthew Fack, and Carrie and Kristin Fack; his great-grandsons, William and Wesley Fulford; and by his good friend, Bertl Kraneis. He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Erna Fack, who passed away in 1987. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Road, Mount Prospect, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the church.
