Richard E. Stahr, 89, of Elgin passed away Friday, July 9, 2021 at The Vines Senior Homes, Elgin. He was born December 2, 1931 in Elgin the son of Arthur J. and Eleanor Cook Stahr. He grew up in the Oak Park and River Forest area and lived in Elgin for the most of his life. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a salesman before retiring. He was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elgin and American Legion Post 57, Elgin. He loved to Golf, read and spend time with his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Ciraulo Stahr whom married on October 26, 1957, 2 children, Kathleen (Paul) Hertel, Stephen (Rebecca) Stahr, 4 grandchildren, Abigail (Dylan) Wiggins, Matthew Hertel, Benjamin Hertel and Alexander Stahr. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Paul Stahr. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 16 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elgin with Rev. Christopher Kuhn officiating. Burial will be private at Mount Hope Cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of mass in the church.
