ROBERT GERARD VAUGHAN

Robert Gerard Vaughan formerly of Lake Villa Robert Gerard Vaughan , 86, of Punta Gorda, Fla., entered peacefully into eternal life on March 27, 2011. He was born in Chicago, Aug. 12, 1924, to the late Harry and Elizabeth (nee Collins) Vaughan. Bob faithfully served his country overseas in World War II and in 1952 moved his family to Lake Villa, Ill., where they lived happily for over 40 years. After retiring from his successful career as the vice president of International Sales for a division of Atlas Van Lines, Bob moved permanently to Punta Gorda, Fla. Bob remained an avid golfer, boater and sports fan throughout his long life. Bob adored his wife Bette T. (nee Emmett) Vaughan, to whom he was married nearly 65 years and the eight children they had together. He is survived by his wife, Bette; his children, Mary E. (Donald Oelerich) Vaughan of Punta Gorda, Fla., Michael (Maryfrances Santos) Vaughan of Bethel, Conn., Terrance (Ellen Mitchell) Vaughan of Grayslake, Ill., James (Penny English) Vaughan of Punta Gorda, Fla., Margaret (Mark) Harper of Burlington, Wis., and Kathleen (Greg) Haley of Twin Lakes, Wis..; 31 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren also survive and many cousins, nephews, nieces, business associates and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert E. Vaughan, in 1972; daughter, Anne Vaughan; two grandchildren in 1982; and a great-granddaughter in 1996. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2011 with a funeral mass at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 135 S. Route 83, Lake Villa, with the Rev. Richard Yanos officiating, followed by burial at the Benedictine Abbey Cemetery, Benet Lake, Wis. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, at Ringa Funeral Home, 122 S.
