Ronald J. Kier of Des Plaines for 45 years The visitation for Ronald J. Kier, 71, formerly of Marengo for four years, will be from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Matz Funeral Home, 410 E. Rand Road, Mount Prospect. Interment will be private. Born Nov. 5, 1940, in Chicago, he died Oct. 5, 2012, at his home in Des Plaines. Ron was an avid fisherman who loved being on the Minnesota waters with his wife, Barbara. He was the owner of Kier Menswear in Des Plaines for 10 years, and later was a clothing salesman. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (nee Zickuhr); loving father of Brian (Linda) of Peoria and David (Gloria) of Las Vegas, Nev.; cherished grandfather of Stephanie, Lauren, Tyler, Anthony, Jacob, Taylor and Vincent; dear son of Ann and the late John Kier; fond brother of Gerald (Cookie); and dear brother-in-law of Donald (Melody) Zickuhr.
