I first met Ron in 1970, at the Arlington Heights Post Office. I was 16 and worked part time there before School each morning. Ron worked full time Night Shift as a Clerk, back a bit from Viet Nam. The guy training me at the Post Office wasnt always the nicest, and Ron stepped in numerous times to encourage him to be more polite and allow me to learn the job on my own. Ron didnt have to do that, I was just a kid, he didnt know me, but that was the kind of guy he was---one of the good ones. A few years later, by mere coincidence I and some other guys rented a home that Rons Uncle Louie had originally built and lived in years before at Dunton and Olive in Arlington Heights. We laughed often about his own memories of time in that House. Ron could fix or make anything. He built my wife and I's first picnic table, and I have used his original design ever since when needing to replace a worn one. He also installed our very first clothes dryer now that I think of it. I hadnt seen Ron in decades, but he left a lasting impression with me and everyone he came in contact with--always quick to help, lend a hand or just be friendly. Ron will be missed by all whom he touched--he truly was one of the Good Guys. RIP Ron.
