RUSSELL P. JOHNSON

Russell P. Johnson of Antioch Russell P. Johnson, 71, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at Vista Medical Center East, Waukegan, IL, with his family at his side. He was born Aug. 12, 1941, in Chicago, the son of the late Henry and Anna (nee Hahn) Johnson. Russ proudly served in the U.S. Army, 11th Airborne Division. After serving in the military, he joined Illinois Bell Telephone Company, where he met and married his beloved wife, Mary Kay (nee Caspari) in 1967. When first married, they had lived Chicago and Elmwood Park, IL, and when their son, William was born, moved to Antioch in 1979. Russ retired after 30 years with Illinois Bell. He was a member of the Antioch Moose Lodge #525 as well as the American Legion. Russ was survived by his wife, Mary Kay; his son, Bill; sister-in-law, Joann Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Russ was preceded in death by his brother, Richard; and nephews, Curt and Craig. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Strang Funeral Home of Antioch, 1055 Main St. (Route 83), Antioch, IL. Interment with military honors will follow in Hillside Cemetery East, Antioch, IL. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
