SOPHIE T. SPIALEK

Sophie T. Spialek of Carpentersville Visitation for Sophie T. Spialek, 88, will be from 9:30 a.m. until the services begin at 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 10, at Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee, proceeding to St. Monica Church of Carpentersville for Mass at noon. Burial will follow in the Dundee Township East Cemetery, East Dundee. Born March 17, 1922, the daughter of the late Stanley and Katherine (nee Holdis) Stanczyk, she died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. On June 24, 1939, she married Gordon W. Spialek. Gordon preceded her in death on Oct. 18, 1996. Sophie was a 56-year resident of Carpentersville and a member of St. Monica Church in Carpentersville. Survivors include her children, Gordon Jr. (Annie) of Carpentersville, Darlene (the late Jack) Whipple of Georgia, Colleen (the late Fred) Hilty of North Carolina, Kathleen (Terry) Spialek and Sharleen Spialek, both of Georgia; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Frank (Winnie) Stanczyk of Lake Villa, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 57 years, Gordon; a son, Bert; a granddaughter, Wendy Sue Land; a grandson, Joseph Whipple; a sister, Stella Wrablik; and a brother, John Stanczyk.
