Few people have the opportunity to have a "Ted" in their lives. For the many years of living next door, we had the chance to know a truly great man. Kind, generous, thoughtful, caring, patient, - all true yet fall short of the measure of this man.
While so much sorrow here for a certainty we know there was much celebration in heaven on that day in February. The Grateful Garberding Family

Dear Joy, please remember all your friends at FVHS send their love and sorrow for your loss. Ted sounds like a wonderful man. I am sorry I did not get to meet him, as I'm sure we would be friends. He joins my first wife Lori in heaven (another way too young but equally joyous to be there). My wife Kyla and I send you our prayers of salvation and healing for you as well. God bless you and your family.

A legacy of love: Ted was a man incomparably loved by God in Christ, a husband, father and grandfather fiercely loved by his family, and he was a brother in Christ whom I genuinely loved. To the Anderson family: I mourn with you in your loss, and I rejoice with you in Ted's gain.

My name is Theodore "Ted" Guy. I work with Ted at the Chicago TRACON (FAA-ATC) in Elgin, IL for a few years before his retirement. When we were on the midnights shifts together I would play my IPOD (a little too loud) so Ted could hear it from my desk. Ted told me that he like my musical collection (Pink Floyd, Journey). I lost my first wife Annie in 2003 from cancer, so me and Ted talk about his first wife. I advised my friend that his children would become the center of his life after her passing. I told Ted that my son (9yo) and daughter (13yo) at the time, became my anchor to life. I believe I was placed here (TRACON) to give some comfort to Ted before his first wife passed, which is kind of hard for me since my belief is not that strong. A week before Ted retire I give him my IPOD and the docking station. he told me NO, NO but I would not take it back. I wanted my friend to have some joy in his life because I knew the pain he was going thru, once being there myself. To the Anderson family know this Ted was a good, strong and kind man and I will miss him. God look after his family.

Uncle Ted was a second dad to me. From my earliest memories I was welcomed into the Anderson clan to spend nights, weekends and even weeks with all my cousins. As an only child, I loved being in their house full of noise and chaos! They even opened up their basement to our family as a temporary home while we were preparing to move to Haiti. In my college years, Ted's house was my "home away from home" as my parents often lived too far to just visit on the weekends. As I got married and began having my own children, Ted would welcome all of us into his home and even blessed us with the "infamous big van" which became renown around Lake Geneva as the "green pickle". My husband Dave was blessed to go on a trip to Israel with Ted in 2009, and the two of them sat at the back of the bus causing "all the trouble" and eating the left over ice cream bars passed back to them. Dave and Ted had such similar personalities and they really hit it off. I loved watching the 2 of them goof off and keep the mood fun and lighthearted when we were all together as a big family. Ted's generous heart, fun loving spirit, desire to make his home the best place for a kid to grow up, his smile, his love for the Lord, his hard working spirit and his big bear hugs are just a few of the memories I will treasure forever. I only wish we had more time....and that my kids could get to know him the way I did. I love you, Uncle Ted and can't wait to see you again.

I will never forget Ted's kindness to my wife and I. But, I will especially remember how tender he was with my wife. I loved reading this obituary and hearing about his incredible generosity no matter the cost. We were able to benefit from his kindness from amazing gourmet meals to helping us move. He was also so much fun to spend time with! I remember sitting in the hot tub with Ted, Joy and my wife while it snowed and he made us laugh and laugh. I will see you on the other side, Ted. Thanks for everything. -George Jemison
