Tommie was a beautiful and gentle spirit. She embodied the best of both her parents. Gracious and kind like her mother, my Aunt Katherine. Tommie was a hard worker with a flair for entertaining and knowledgeable about good food because she grew up with it and had high standards! Always putting her husband and children first and showing kindness where she could.
Our parents (brother and sister) were very close and enjoyed spending time together immensely. We would see them at the farm for Christmas each year and while the "Petty girls " were more "city" than "country," we always enjoyed the Christmas holiday together there, playing (or rather watching while the boys and men played) football in the pasture, and setting off fireworks at night! As a child I always enjoyed visiting Aunt Katherine and Uncle Leland´s in the summer where it was always Tommie who as a teenager (just ten years older), would take me for a swim at Petty´s Motel, or to the drive through for a coke; always a special treat! She´d even let me wear her nightgowns which I thought were so fancy in that 50´´s / 60´s style, silky and extra special! I think I was in her wedding to Rollo. She was the kindest! When I graduated from UT(also her alma mater), and moved to Chicago to finish school, she met me at the airport and helped load my boxes of belongings into her car, helped me find an apartment downtown Chicago, showed me around, especially the train station where I was made to feel welcome to take the train out to spend time with her, Rollo, Nena, Anna, and Jonathan, whenever I could! I was very shy but she always seemed to understand and made me feel welcome. She always included me for holidays and special occasions and I loved getting to spend time with the kids, and to get to know them as children. They were fun, smart, funny, and each precious in their own unique way. She was very proud of her children. And the "peacemaker" of her sisters. Sadly, when I moved to Houston to be with our Aunt Ruth after my parents and Mama Beall died all within a short time of each other and then Austin, we lost touch, as I´m sure she was very busy with the kids´, high school and colleges, etc. But I´ll always remember Tommie for her many kindnesses to me and her children will always have a special place in my heart and home should they ever be able to visit.
Tommie will rest in peace and understanding. My sincere love and heartfelt hugs to Rollo, Nena, Anna and her family, and Jonathan. We were all blessed to have Tommie in our lives.
Love,
Nina Ruth Beall

We are shocked and deeply saddened with Tommie's passing. Mother and I will always remember Tommie's welcoming, beautiful smile and soft, encouraging words. She loved her family so much and genuinely cared about others. She was a warm ray of sunshine wherever she went! Mother and I are so glad that the funeral service will be live-streamed virtually on Saturday. We will be watching from Texas and wishing we could be there in person. Our hearts grieve her loss!! But her memories will always be cherished in our minds. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. We send our best wishes and prayers for Nena, Anna, Jon, and Rollo as they experience this extremely difficult time of losing their precious mother and wonderful wife.

Tommie and I grew up together-our families living on the same street in Lufkin, Texas. We were cheerleading partners in high school and we grew to have an endearing, brother/sister affection that lasted through the years. She was such a beautiful person-her smile as bright as the noon of Creation. I shall not likely ever again know someone so kind, so gentle and so caring. Heavenly Father, fulfill your promise and in your mercy receive Tommie into your loving embrace and grant her the peace and joy of everlasting life. Buddy Z.

My parents, George & Lou Nadenik, were good friends with both Tommie and Rollo. They would sail together, have dinners and go to parties with the rest of the "fraternity group". I remember some of those wild parties being held in our basement. Tommie was always very kind and soft-spoken. I always thought of her as a "southern belle" . I´m out of town and unable to join the services. However, wanted to share my condolences and fond memories with the family. Peace be with you all.

Tommie was one of my best friends from elementary school. When she was your friend you felt truly blessed! We lived many miles from each other but when we talked it was like we had just seen each other. I will miss my friend!
