WALTER "JIM" BERT

1941 - 2017

Jim Bert, 76, passed away suddenly Friday, August 18th at St. Mary's Hospital in Rhinelander, WI. He was born March 13, 1941 in Chicago; the son of Walter and Virginia Bert. He had been a sheet metal worker for his entire life, and was just awarded his 50 Year Service Award from Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 73 of Chicago in May. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved golf, snowmobiling, fishing, boating, horseshoes, motorcycling and bowling. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and continued to support his community by working with the Conover Wisconsin Fire Department. Jim was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Bert. He is survived by his daughters, Jackie Minogue of Chicago and Shannon Bert of Crystal Lake; his sister, Janet (Alan) Somolik of Tonganoxie, Kansas; grandchildren, Brigette and Austin Minogue; great-grandchildren, Lucas and Aiden Minogue. A celebration of life will be held at the McHenry Moose Lodge #691, 3535 N. Richmond Road, Johnsburg, IL on Sunday, September 10th starting at 1 p.m.
