Angie Matherson Sims

Angie Matherson Sims, age 74 passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025. Angie is survived by her husband of 58 years, Joe Sims; sons, Joe Allen Sims Jr. (Diana), David Sims (Dawn); grandchildren, Brooke Sims McCain, Ryan Sims (Courtney), Josh Washburn (Katie), Kayla Sims, Jennifer Sims, Justin Washburn, Jacob Washburn; great grandchildren, Ian McCain, Caroline McCain, Bryliee Washburn, Paislee Washburn, Layla Washburn, Lennon Washburnon, Johnny Washburn, Jaeylnn Washburn, Wade Sims, Woodlyn Sims; brothers, Jerry Matherson (Ronni), Tony Matherson, Steve Matherson, Tom Matherson (Resa), Greg Matherson; sisters, Debbie Waller (Darrell), sister Karen McMahon (Jim); a host of nieces and nephews; her pets Lucy and Precious, whom she considered like children and Gracie her grandpuppy. She was like a daughter to John and Ellen Sims and a sister to John Wayne and Mertle, Eddy and Trudie, Bruce and Charlene, Al and Connie, Cheyl, Polly and Richard and Scotty. Angie was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Kathleen Matherson; and brother, Ken Matherson. A dedicated wife and mother, she focused much of her attention on her family and her household. A loving mother and grandmother, she first loved the Lord. She taught sewing in technical school. Angie was a seamstress, serving friends and family with her talents. She also was a team driver with her husband, Joe on coast to coast hauls. Mrs. Sims was one of the founders of Sims Trucking in Sylacauga and a member of Full Gospel Tabernacle in Talladega Springs. A visitation for Angie was held Friday, October 31, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home, 320 North Elm Avenue, Sylacauga, Alabama 35150. A funeral service will occur Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Full Gospel Tabernacle, 2911 Talladega Springs Rd, Sylacauga, AL 35151. Ryan Sims, Josh Washburn, Chris Matherson, Shane Matherson, Aron McMahon, Stoney Matherson, Keven Fulmer, and Patrick Schappert will serve as pallbearers. Angie will be laid to rest in Talladega Springs Cemetery, Sylacauga Fayetteville Highway, Sylacauga, AL.
