Mr. Carl Richmond Woodgett Jr.

OXFORD - Funeral services for Mr. Carl Richmond Woodgett Jr., 43, formerly of Talladega, will be Saturday, May 8 at 1 p.m. at Kelly Springs Missionary Baptist, Munford, where the Rev. L. L. Jacobs is Pastor. The Rev. Hershel Taylor will officiate. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Talladega. Mr. Woodgett will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service. Mr. Woodgett died Sunday, May 2, 2010 at University Hospital in Birmingham. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Nezie McKenzie and Irene McKenzie; brother, Thomas Woodgett; and great-nephew, Ricky Woodgett. He was a member of Lily Hill Missionary Baptist Church and was under the watch care of Greater Calvary Baptist Church; attended Talladega High School where he was a member of the basketball team; a member of the Thomas A. Williams Elks Lodge No. 1668, Anniston. Survivors are his wife, Rosalind Nix Woodgett of Talladega; daughter, NaCarlyn Woodgett of Anniston; stepdaughters, Sherridon Nix of Talladega and Bonita Hearn (Esau) of Radcliff, Ky.; son, JaCarlin Woodgett of Anniston; stepsons, Darrell Nix (Phyllis) of Alpine, Sharon Nix (Yoko) of Childersburg and Kevvin Nix of Mississippi; mother, Eva Woodgett of Talladega; father, Carl Woodgett Sr. (Willie Mae) of Lineville; sister, Carleva Woodgett of Talladega; half sisters, Tina Pickens and NaKesha T. Warwick of Alpine; stepsisters, Carmelia Johnson of Lineville and Cassandra McCain (Scotty) of Wadley; and nine grandchildren. Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the services.
