Dewey Simmons, Sr. was born on March 26, 1930 to the parentage of George Simmons and Verna Wilson in
Talladega, Alabama. Affectionately known as "Patty" gained his Heavenly wings on October 5, 2024 at Talladega Health Care Center in
Talladega, Alabama. Mr. Simmons had a love for Jesus Christ and his faith in God was unwavering. He lived life to the fullest. After receiving his education, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he received a Bronze Star Medal while serving in the Korean War. He united in Holy Matrimony to the late Dorothy Mae Simmons during his life's journey. This union brought great joy and happiness to themselves. Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy Mae Simmons, his sons, John Lee Simmons, and Dwight Simmons, three daughters, Verdie Jean Simmons, Delois Simmons, and Deborah King. He leaves to cherish his loving memories, two sons, Dewey (Sandra) Simmons, Jr. of Goodwater, AL, and Dave (Elnora) Simmons, of Millerville, AL; three daughters, Mary Simmons, Bernice Lindsey, and Deborah (Eddie) Searcy all of Millerville, AL; three brothers, Robert (Linda) Simmons of Millerville, AL, John Wesley (Jo Catherine) Simmons of Goodwater, AL, and Arthur (Pat) Simmons of Cleveland, OH; two sisters, Emma Lou Zachery of Millerville, AL, and Lilly Pearl (Henry) Alexander of Cleveland, OH; grandchildren, Starsky (Sharon) Simmons, Dwilda (Michael) Edwards, Magon (Joel) Smith, Branda (Jeremy) Searcy, Christie Simmons, Alfred Simmons, Lawanda (Mark) Heard, William Simmons, Sasha Simmons, Asia Simmons, Ashley Simmons, Felicia Rhoden, and Lytoya King; a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Celebration of life for Dewey Simmons, Sr. (Patty), age 94, will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Simmons Cemetery, Millerville, Alabama. Pastor Michael Billingsley, Officiant.
