Frank Lawson Obituary

A Celebration Remembering the Life of Deacon Frank Cleveland Lawson, 90, of Alpine, Alabama, will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Kingston Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Byron White officiating. Interment will commence immediately following the service at Kingston Baptist Church Cemetery. There will be a public viewing for Deacon Lawson on Thursday, December 5, 2024 from 3-7 p.m. at S.M. Goodson Funeral Home Chapel. Professional services entrusted to S.M. Goodson Funeral Home and Crematory. Deacon Frank Cleveland Lawson was born on September 25, 1934, in Talladega, Alabama, to Sam and Eliza Moore Lawson. He was united in marriage to the late Arie Louise Reynolds Lawson and had six children. Mr. Lawson accepted Christ at an early age and faithfully attended Kingston Missionary Church until his health began to fail. He served as a Deacon for over 35 years. Educated in the Talladega County School System, he attended Phyllis Wheatley High School in Childersburg, Alabama. Mr. Lawson retired from Russco Corporation as a driller and was a member of Local Union 559. Mr. Frank Lawson (Dad) was truly a jack-of-all-trades-a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather known for his positive attitude, sense of humor, sharpness, and soft-spoken nature. He was an entrepreneur and a barber for over 70 years, often serving the community with free haircuts. In addition to barbering, he was skilled in carpentry and always had a building project in mind. He was one of the founders of the quartet gospel group, Bright Stars of Alpine and was a talented musician, guitarist, and singer who sang in the male chorus. In his younger days, Dad was an exceptional baseball player known for his curveball. He also worked as a farmer and mechanic and was a Masonic Mason of Costella Lodge 246. Most importantly, Dad was a pillar of his community and cherished as a grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was a devoted leader in his church and was renowned for his sweet potato pies. Mr. Lawson loved his family dearly and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He had a passion for farming and enjoyed working in his yard. He will be truly missed by everyone whose lives he touched during his blessed journey. On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, Mr. Frank C. Lawson traded his earthly home for eternal rest when he peacefully answered his Master's call to reunite with his wife, Arie Louise Reynolds Lawson; one daughter, Lou Ann Hall; his parents, Sam and Eliza Lawson; one sister, Annie Jo Calhoun; four brothers-Jewell Lawson, Jathan Lawson, John S. Lawson, and Lewis Moore; and one great-grandson, Keuan LaShawn Hall. Mr. Lawson leaves behind a legacy of love and memories to be cherished by his daughter, Cynthia Lawson Swain; four sons, Benjamin (Marilyn) Lawson, Harold (Dennia) Lawson, Jerry (Sherry) Lawson, and Frank, Jr. (Tracy) Lawson; a bonus son, CorBoris Miquel Lawson; special caregivers/grandchildren Steven Swain, Jr., Jerrick DeWayne Lawson, and Tarnisha Lawson; three sisters, Sarah Williams, Ernestine Williams, and Eliza Swain; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren.
