George Govatos Obituary

Graveside services for Mr. George 'The Greek' Govatos, 84, will be on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 11:00am at Lincoln City Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:30-10:30 on July 24. He is survived by his children Gregory (Jackie) Govatos, and April( Randy) Langley; grandchildren, Jackson Govatos, Morgan Govatos, Jamie Shaddix, Peyton Brasher; great grandchildren, Rylan Shaddix and Melanie Shaddix. He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Sue Govatos; and parents, Jimmy and Annie Mae Watson Govatos. Pallbearers will be Tommy Buzan, Frank Wyville, Cody Shaddix, and Randy Langley. George Govatos, known as 'The Greek', was married to Sue, the love of his life for 53 years. Born in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1953 and moved to Lincoln in 1958 where he opened his restaurant The Dairyland. He spent the next 35 years of his life doing what he loved, which was enjoying friends and family and serving the community. Miller Funeral Home directing.

My deepest heartfelt sympathy to the family. When I was a young boy and teenager in Lincoln George was my big buddy. Many hamburgers and shakes from our hangout The Dairyland back in those good old days.Rest In Peace my friend.
