Jerry Thomas Culberson Sr.

Jerry Thomas Culberson, Sr., was born June 20, 1938, and died December 6, 2025. He was born in Sylacauga, AL and lived there most of his life. Jerry was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Oak Grove, where he contributed to his community. He was a retired member of the US Air Force, having served his country with honor. Jerry also retired from the trucking industry. Jerry is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Janell Offord Culberson, his father, Benjamin T. Culberson, mother, Mattie Brazzell Hayes, and stepfather, Duel Hayes. He is survived by his sons, Jerry T. Culberson, Jr., William (Bill) D. Culberson (Sandi), and Michael A. Culberson (Deborah). He also leaves behind two granddaughters, Kaitlin Culberson and Kelsey Culberson Smith (Kaleb), a great-grandson, Carter Smith, a brother, Benjamin J. (Joe) Culberson (Katherine), and a sister, Phyllis Culpepper. Visitation will be held on December 13, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Radney-Smith Funeral Home, located at 320 North Elm Avenue, Sylacauga, Alabama, 35150. The funeral service will follow at 10:00 am with Bro. Max Buttram officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be the American Legion Post 45. Jerry will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, located at 1501 Talladega Highway, Sylacauga.
