A Celebration Remembering the Life of Mr. Jimmy Cooley, 57, of
Sylacauga, Alabama, will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 11 a.m. at S.M. Goodson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Arthur Welch officiating. Interment will commence immediately following the service at Bethel Memorial Gardens in
Ashland, Alabama. There will be a public viewing for Mr. Cooley on Friday, May 17, 2024 from 3-7 p.m. at S.M. Goodson Funeral Home Chapel. Professional services entrusted to S.M. Goodson Funeral Home and Crematory. Mr. Jimmy Cooley was born on January 31, 1967 in Cleburne County, Alabama to the union of Solden Cooley, Sr. and Helen Hunter Cooley Perkins.Jimmy will forever be remembered for his strong faith in Christ while attending Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in
Ashland, Alabama, his passion for truck driving, and his undeniable love for his family and grandchildren. A man of many talents, he found joy in gardening, fishing, and dancing to the rhythms of life. His vibrant spirit and zest for living illuminated the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was educated in the Clay County School System where he was a graduate of Clay County High School. Once completing his education, he joined the workforce and became a devoted over the road truck driver in the transportation industry for more than 23 years until his health began to decline. Along his path in life, Jimmy met his soulmate, Ms. Tanya Bryant and together they share more than 15 years of a love and happiness. His grandchildren were his most prized possessions. He enjoyed watching them play football and baseball cheering them on at their games. During football season, he would cheer on the Alabama Roll Tide. Known to his family and friends as "Mr. Fix It", he loved working on cars and could tear a car apart and put it back together. Jimmy was very energetic and loved dancing at the beat of any music. He loved life and all it had to offer. He will be missed immensely by all who had the opportunity of knowing him. On Wednesday, May 8, 2024 while in the comfort of his home surround by his beloved family, Jimmy Cooley's journey on the earth came to a peaceful end as he departed this walk of life reuniting with his father, Solden Cooley, Sr., grandparents, Winford and Ella Gunn Cooley and Millard R.C. Hunter and Elizabeth Person Hunter, two brothers, Michael Cooley and Germane Cooley, and one sister, Ella M. Taylor. In the midst of our grief, let us find comfort in the enduring legacy that Jimmy leaves behind for his long-time loving and devoted spouse, Tanya Bryant; four daughters, Jimmeka Cooley, Callie (Alonzo) Forbus, Mikeala Forbus, and Sarrah Tidwell; son, Terrell (Dominique) Blackmon; dear mother, Helen Perkins; four brothers, Solden Cooley, Jr., Winston (Anita) Hunter, Todrick (Delethia) Hunter, and Cordale Hunter; eight sisters, Margaret (Willie Gene) McLemore, Donna (Larry) Cooley, Kareen (Germaine) Hunter, Bernita Hunter, Ychiva Hunter, Takesha Hunter, Chemeka Hunter, and Elizabeth Hunter; nine grandchildren, Rhedrian Daniels, Tristian Taylor, Jer'Darius Hall, Jermaine (Jr.) Hall, Kei'Moni Blackmon, Harmoni Blackmon, Kaylani Blackmon, Selene Tidwell, and Savena Tidwell; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
As we prepare to honor Jimmy's life and legacy, let us reflect on the joy he brought into our lives, the love he shared so generously, and the indelible mark he left on our hearts.
