John Hawkins

Funeral service for John L. Hawkins, age 65, will be Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Elizabeth Oden Lawler Memorial Chapel "Westview Chapel." The Rev. Andrew King will officiate. Interment will be with all military honors. Mr. Hawkins died July 15, 2014 at Talladega HealthCare. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother, Emma Jane Scott; father, Tot Twymon; brother, Earest Hawkins, Jr. He attended Westside High School and upon completion of school he joined the U.S. Army. He accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Africa Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Hawkins of Atlanta, GA; one daughter, Joyce Hawkins of Atlanta, GA; two sons, Jonathan Jordan of Talladega and Jay Hawkins of Detroit, MI; five brothers, Joseph Jr., Melvin and Robert Scott of Talladega, Steve Scott of Wymon, MS, and Richey Jenkins of Talladega; three sisters, Annie Pearl (Paul) Clay of Talladega, Joanne Harris of Atlanta, GA, and Helen (Willie) Simmons of Ohatchee; three grandchildren, several aunts, one uncle, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Visitation will be Friday, July 25, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Westview Funeral Home. Westview Funeral Home directing.
