Our hearts where sad to hear of the home going of Uncle Lloyd. As I was telling my children, I told them about the summers we spent in WV, he was always there with a big smile and a BIG welcome. He was also concerned that I pick the right husband. I really think he would of hurt someone that hurt me.
I will never forget the day he told us about his Salvation in the Lord Jesus. It is a blessing to know that we will see him again.
Our prayers are with Aunt Marlene and the family.

We are very sad about the home going of Lloyd. We know he is with the Lord and is waiting for us to join him some day. We will never forget how kind and thoughtful he was and we will always remember his smile.

One of the things I will miss most when I think of "Dad" were his hugs! I remember when Steve and I were married, right after the ceremony he came up to me and opened those wide arms and said "Welcome to the family gal!" And gave me the biggest hug! Over the past 31 years I have been blessed to have this wonderful man as my father-in-law but he was more like a second "dad". I will always cherish our summers together at the beach. The family gatherings in Huntersville and the picnics out at Watoga. His appreciation for a "good cup of coffee", the t.v. show M.A.S.H. and a good book. My biggest regret is not being able to spend more time with him! We will go on with our lives..knowing that this life will never be the same without him but always knowing how very much he loved his family and how very proud he was of each of them. Peace be with you Dad!

Mrs. Pope,

I got to know Mr. Pope through my job at BF Goodrich. I always enjoyed talking to him. He told me a lot about his geneology searches with your family. Whenever I had a question or didn't understand something, I could always count on Mr. Pope to have the answer. I will really miss him. He was a great man.

Marleen,
It is with great sadness that we heard of Mr. Pope’s passing. While I have many memories of Mr. Pope, the last one seems to come mind—eating Kentucky Fried Chicken in Childersburg in the Summer on 2006. It was fun catching up with the Family and I am so glad my daughter, Emily met our ‘Mr. Pope’, because she certainly heard me speak very highly of him. Engineer, Father, Husband and Friend! Every time I saw him, he would greet you with a big mustached smile and say hello to you in a way that made you feel like you were the most important person in the world!
While I have been sitting at the computer thinking about your husband over the years, my dogs have nuzzled me, my parents called, I refilled my wife’s coffee, and we talked about the memories of life. (some how I think he is already watching over all of us!) I will miss Mr. Pope. While my interactions with him were few, I am a better person as a result of every meeting and warm greeting. Mr. Pope – goodbye. Thank you for making everyone you touched, happier.

Lloyd was my wife's brother-in-law, but I considered him a special friend. He was a great person, someone I cared for far more than any normal friend. He will be missed by many people, including myself.
